Mors Subita - Into The Pitch Black

'Path to the Abyss' is a short intro to the fuckstorm that is 'As Humanity Weeps'. This is how you start an album. The vocals and riff structure bring Hatesphere to mind immediately, but the crunch of the guitars and industrial undertones made me think of Mnemic on their debut 'Mechanical Spin Phenomena'.

On 'Dead Sun' things are slowed down a little and some groove is brought into the equation. The vocals sound so pissed-off and bring to mind Mnemic once more.

'Defeat' continues the heavy groove of the previous track, but diversifies things with a violent riff before each chorus.

The title track 'Into The Pitch Black' is a more melodic affair with a definite In Flames vibe.

The band show some more diversity on 'Alas' where they start off sounding like melodic death metal, but on the verses they go into an almost funky domain.

'I, God' has a hardcore sound to it, but also goes quite deathly with some thrashing blast beats.

'Vultures' bring Mnemic back into my mind with a techy sounding track. This truly shows their diversity.

The penultimate track 'Fear Is Just The Beginning' is like Hatesphere do death metal. This is a good thing!

The final track on this diverse and heavy opus is 'Shadows'. This track is great way to finish an album that I don't want to end. It's a slow burning, groovy song with an In Flames influence.

This album is heavy and diverse. I'd recommend any fans of metal to give it a listen, especially if you are a fan of Hatesphere and Mnemic.
